A Long the Caspian Sea’s southern coast, heading westwards in the direction of the Alborz Mountains, lies the province of Guilan. A land in technicolor. A realm of rain and forests; of rivers and tides. Habitat to a plethora of local and migrant birds alike. Indeed, Guilan is renowned as a landscape of immense beauty and vibrancy. One may undoubtedly see this fact reflected through the clothing of the Guilak (Guilani) people; especially in the costumes of the womenfolk. Guilak culture has truly withstood the test of time, and one can see the evidence of their style bequeathed over the generations simply by walking through the streets and neighbourhoods of Guilan; it is as though one were experiencing a parade of heritage. Today the lifeblood of Guilak culture is thriving, and remains prevalent in ceremonies and celebrations.
